Local Emergency Planning Committee Minutes

MEMBERS PRESENT: Don Nimmow, Denise Brusveen, Warren Frank, Tom Dorner, Jeff Jelinek, Bob Kissack, Terry Wise, Megan Marshall and Shawn Posewitz

MEMBERS ABSENT: Steve Muchow, Ed Geick, Randy Johnson, Nicholas Fluguar, Kevin Gunderson, Jeff Seering, Sam Howard, Marty Krueger, Richard Meister, Jeff Skinner, Jeff Sprecher, Kevin Stieve, Tim Stieve, Stan Sukup, Rose White and Melissa Delmore.

The meeting was called to order by J. Jelinek at 1:00 p.m. with a quorum present. Meeting was properly posted.

Motion by D. Nimmow, second by W. Frank to adopt agenda. Carried .

Motion by W. Frank, second by T. Wise to approve previous meeting minutes. Carried .

SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS

Public Education - Denise Brusveen suggested that UW Extension would be available to assist with the public education. Jeff Jelinek stated that he would contact her to see what they could put together for the public education portion. Jeff Jelinek also stated that WEM has a representative now that offers citizen preparedness that may assist them in the public education portion as well.

COMMITTEE MEMBER REPORTS - None.

OLD BUSINESS - None.

NEW BUSINESS -

  1. Jeff Jelinek stated that there are still issues with funding for Rural Safety Days and they are interested in using buildings as a location instead of renting tents, etc.
  2. EPCRA facility map is almost complete. Jeff stated that he was working with Sally Cobb with the GIS and discussed how the map layout would work. This information will be shared at the next training with law enforcement, fire, EMS and also the Local Emergency Management Directors.
  3. Jeff stated that the county website was updated and it now contains a Clean Sweep tab showing the public how to dispose of certain items properly. Also, Public Health will possibly be having two Pill Clean Sweeps this year that could also be posted on the website. Jeff stated that he also needs to know if there are any sites in each municipality that would be available for citizens to dispose of items.

PUBLIC COMMENT: None.

ADJOURNMENT - Motion by D. Nimmow, second by T. Dorner to adjourn until May 14th, 2009, starting at 1:00 p.m. Carried.
