Transportation Coordination Committee


DATE: Aug. 5, 2009

TCC meeting held in Room 213 of the West Square Building, 505 Broadway, Baraboo, WI, 53913.

Attending: Art Carlson, Steven Bach, Darwin Nelson, Trish Vandre, Phyllis Johnson, Betty Durst, Theron Hill, Sandy Roemer-Rutter, Ralph Soeldner, Dale Mayer, Jim Brown, Natalie Wilmot, Janet Pearson, Michael Coleman and Ashley Nedeau-Owen.

Absent: Sue Hebel and Pat McGinty.

Called to order by Carlson at 10:40 AM in compliance with Open Meeting Law.

Agenda adopted, motion by Pearson, second by Bach, unanimously.

Prior meeting minutes approved, motion by Soeldner, second by Durst, unanimously.

Public comment was offered by David Schiller describing his positive experiences using The Bus and relating his increasing sense of independence, not having to rely on his caregiver for transportation.

An update on transportation programs was offered and discussed. Through five weeks The Bus had provided 118 rides.

Wilmot described the increasing needs of the aging-out population, young adults 18 - 21 who have been recipients of school provided transportation services. Current state is limited service availability.

Business Items:

•  Grant Writing in process

•  Long Range planning - in process but slowed

•  Shared Ride Taxi and The Bus - intracity services joined by an intercity service

•  Baraboo Ambulance looking for vehicle - staff encouraged to maintain conversation

•  Discussed committee's role as informational resource for local providers, committee members provided with handouts and links to state-wide planning efforts

Nelson moved to adjourn, Mayer seconded and all approved.
