The 2012 Sauk County Conservation, Planning, and Zoning Department (CPZ) Tree Sale Program encourages local planting of native woodland species while meeting a demand for low priced planting stock. Only native Wisconsin species are offered through this program.
The information you’ll need to place an order may be printed from the links below, including an order form and brief descriptions for the trees and shrubs offered.
Please place your order early as tree and shrub quantities are limited. Orders will be filled in the order in which they are received. Once a species has sold out, we will not be able to order more until the following year. We will contact you if your order cannot be filled as indicated. Payment must accompany the order. The deadline for placing orders is March 30, 2012.
Orders will be distributed from the Sauk County Fairgrounds in Baraboo on Friday, April 27. More details regarding distribution time and location will be sent to you around mid-April. Please arrange to pick up your order on the date specified. If you cannot pick up your order on April 27, please have a friend or relative pick it up for you! Stock is bare root and dries out quickly, so it’s advisable to plant as soon as possible. We will not be responsible for forgotten orders.
Contact the Conservation, Planning, and Zoning Department at (608) 355-3245 or email conservation@co.sauk.wi.us for more information about this program.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has a program for landowners who wish to plant a large quantity of tree seedlings at a lower cost. Additionally, tree planters and sprayers are available for rent through the DNR-Sauk County Foresters' office. Much more information about the DNR program is on the web at the State Nursery Program website (see link below). Please email conservation@co.sauk.wi.us if you would like us to mail an order form to you.
General information on conifer and hardwood trees can be obtained from the USDA Forest Service or the Wisconsin DNR (see links below).
