- Q: Can I leave a message for a prisoner?
- A: We do not accept telephone messages for any of the prisoners. If you have an emergency message, (death in the family, major illness) which can be verified, we will make every attempt to pass the message on.
- Q: What are the Jail/Huber visiting Hours?
- A: Visitation is Tuesdays through Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. You must be registered in by 10:10 a.m.
Tuesday through Sunday 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. You must register in by 8:10 p.m.
Note: There is no visitation on Mondays and inmates can be restricted from visiting due to disciplinary sanctions. Inmates in pre classification status (newly incarcerated) are only allowed visits during Sunday morning visitation.
- Q: What are the Jail/Huber Visitor
Regulations?

The persons authorized to visit Huber inmates are limited to:
- Adults (18 years of age or older);
- Minors (17 years of age or younger) who are accompanied by their parent or legal guardian, must have a birth certificate, adoption papers, and/or other proof of guardianship on a legal document to confirm the child is accompanied by their parent or legal guardian;
- Persons who have not been incarcerated in Sauk County Jail facilities
within the previous 30 days; and,
- Persons who are not listed on the "No-Contact" visitation list.
- No more than 2 adults per inmate
- No more than 2 adults and 2 minors per inmate, OR no more than 1 adult and 3 minors per inmate.
The visitor will be required to provide one of the following identification documents - All ID's must have a photo and date of birth on them:
- Photo driver's license;
- State issued photo identification card;
- Military photo identification card;
- Resident alien photo identification card;
- School photo identification card;
- Work identification card;
- Minors must provide a birth certificate; and,
- Adults accompanying the minor(s) must provide proof of guardianship.
A visit will be denied and visiting privileges suspended under the following circumstances:
- The visitor is under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol;
- The visitor(s) refuses or fails to produce sufficient picture identification;
- The visitor's and/or inmate's conduct during the visitation session becomes disruptive or is in violation of Huber Center/Jail rules and regulations; and/or,
- The visitor is on the "No Contact" list.
VISITATION RULES:
1.) No cell phone use in the visitation room.
2.) No food or drink in visitation, this includes for childre also.
3.) You must remain at the booth you are assigned to. Juveniles must remain with their parent(s) and at the visitation booth.
4.) If you leave the visitation room, at any time during your visit, you may not go back into visitation.
5.) You may only visit the inmate you are registered to see. Talking to any other inmate will terminate the visit and may cause suspension of visiting privileges.
6.) Anyone under 18, must be supervised by an adult, at all times. This includes in the parking lot area. Juveniles may not be left in cars, in the parking lot, on the sidewalk or in the lobby, unattended by an adult.
7.) Swearing and/or disrespect of staff will terminate the visit and may cause suspension of visiting privileges.
8.) Visitors wearing clothing too tight, too short, too low, etc., will not be allowed to visit.
9.) Any indecent activity will terminate the visit and may cause suspension of visiting privileges.
The public visit session will be monitored by deputies and the audio and video poritons of the visit can be recorded.
- Q: What time and where do I report for my Jail sentence?
- A: You will report to the Huber Center for your Jail sentence. The time is set by the judge, and will be on your paperwork from the Clerk of Courts. You cannot book in any earlier that the time that is on your court paperwork. You must not be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs when you report for your sentence. You are required to have all your Huber paperwork filled out at least one day before you report. This includes a Work Release Agreement (filled out by your employer), Schedule (needed each week), and Workman's Compensation verification (from your employer). You will also need 2 weeks Huber fee of $224.00, plus $2.50 for your initial hygiene issuance. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the Huber Center or Jail at 355-3264.
- Q: How do I bail someone out of Jail?
- A: You can post someone's bail at any sheriff's department in the state, if posting with cash. You may post with a credit card, however you must do so in person at the Sauk County Law Enforcement Center. A transaction fee is added to the bond amount for credit card bonds.
- Q: Can I drop property off for someone in Jail/Huber?
- A: No property can be dropped off at the Jail. Only money will be accepted for inmates in the lobby of the Huber Center. Money can be dropped off or mailed. However, no personal checks will be accepted, cash or money orders only.
Paperback books, magazines and/or newspapers can be purchased and delivered to the jail as follows:
- Books must be purchased from and mailed directly to the jail from the book publisher or from an Internet clearinghouse such as Amazon.com.
- Magazines and newspapers must be purchased on a subscription basis and mailed directly to the jail from the publisher or the periodical.
- Books, magazines and/or newspapers not mailed directly from the publisher or Internet clearinghouse will not be issued to the prisoner. The publications will either be returned to the sender or stored in the property room until the prisoner is released from custody.
Inmate property in the facility can be picked up at anytime in the Sauk County Law Enforcement lobby as long as the inmate in question has voluntarily signed over the property to the individual picking it up.
- Q: What are the policies regarding mail and what is allowed or not allowed to be sent to an inmate?
- A: All incoming mail and packages will be opened and inspected by Jail staff. Rules governing inmate incoming and outgoing mail are:
- Any mail, pictures, etc. not meeting facility standards will be placed into the inmates stored property until they are released. A receipt for the "undeliverable" mail will be sent to the inmate to inform them of its arrival and placement into their property.
- See above regarding magazines, books and newspapers being mailed into the facility.
- Mail containing gang signs, stickers or tape will not be delivered to any inmate within the facility.
- Inmates are not allowed to correspond with other inmates within the Sauk County Jail or Huber Center, either directly or through a third party.
- Mail from or intended for persons the inmate is restricted from contacting ("No Contact" restriction) will be returned.
- Whenever possible, incoming and outgoing mail will be mailed or distributed within 24 hours from the time it is received at the Jail/Huber or placed in the mail receptacle.
- Envelopes or other type of mailing containers will be confiscated and discarded after the contents of the mailing(s) is issued to the inmate.
- Inmates are not permitted to receive publications or other items that portray nudity.
- Q: How do I send letter/cash to an inmate?
