A Message from Sheriff Randy Stammen,

Thank you for your interest in the Sauk County Sheriff's Office. The Sauk County Sheriff's Office was founded in 1844, 4 years prior to Wisconsin becoming a State. The Sheriff's Office is located in Baraboo, Wisconsin in the heart of the beautiful Baraboo Bluffs. Tourism is a main attraction in Sauk County along with the natural beauty of the entire County. Sauk County has a lot to offer you, from the Wisconsin Dells and Lake Delton area with their water and amusement parks, challenging golf courses, Ho-Chunk Casino, to Baraboo's Circus World Museum and Devil's Lake State Park, to the arts in Spring Green.

Currently, the Sauk County Sheriff's Office has 153 full time employees. There are 24 Administrative positions which include a Chief Deputy, an Administrative Assistant, a Captain of the Security Division with 6 Security Sergeants, a Captain of the Field Services with three Patrol Division Lieutenants, three Patrol Sergeants, one Detective Sergeant, and one Communication Division Sergeant.

I am very proud of the men and women who have devoted their careers to the Sheriff's Office and who work tirelessly to maintain and enhance the professional reputation enjoyed by the Sauk County Sheriff's Office. We are fortunate to be able to attract and hire some of the finest people in law enforcement today. The opportunities available to Sauk County Sheriff's Office personnel are truly limited only by one's ambition. The growth and vitality of Sauk County affords an opportunity to Sheriff's Office personnel to embark on a career in law enforcement and not merely a job.

The tasks and functions within the organization are many and varied, including Patrol, Investigations, Jail, Prisoner Conveyances & Extradition, Warrant & Civil Process Service, Court Bailiff & Security, Clerical Support Services, Lake & Snowmobile Patrol. Personnel also have opportunities to serve on specialty teams, such as the Emergency Response Team, Critical Incident Negotiations Team, Drug Enforcement, K-9 Unit, SCUBA Dive and Rescue Team, and Honor Guard.
