Parks and Recreation

Old White Mound VillageAt 1,100 acres, the largest park, White Mound is a great treasure to the county. At the center of the park lies 104-acre White Mound Lake.

White Mound Park gets it's name from a vanished village located just south of the park. The village was named for the white look of the mounds of limestone found in the area.

An abandoned limestone kiln can still be found along one of our many hiking trails.

White Mound offers a variety of facilities for many activities, including camping, hiking, fishing, cross-country skiing, hunting, swimming, snowmobiling, and horseback riding. Handicap accessible restrooms are provided. White Mound Park is located off Highway 23 between Reedsburg and Spring Green. An entrance fee is required. The daily rate is $3.00 and the annual fee is $15.00.

The park has a wonderful family style campground with 70 sites, 30 of which have electrical hookups. Pay showers, fire rings, picnic tables and water are provided. The camping season begins in April and closes in November, weather permitting. Reservation forms are available on this website.

Our two shelters can be reserved for your next reunion or summer get-together for a small fee. These reservation forms are also available on this site.

Park picnic areas include grills, picnic tables, play areas and toilet facilities. The boat landing provides a great way to get out and enjoy the great bass and bluegill fishing experience on Lake White Mound. However make sure you have a trolling motor, because no gas motors are allowed on the lake.

Redstone Park

Located on Lake Redstone, Redstone Park offers a beautiful swimming beach, playground and picnic pavilion. A picturesque view of the waterfall from the spillway is worth a visit, too. The park is near La Valle in Douglas Road. On the north end of Lake Redstone, just off Highway F, is the Redstone Boat Landing. Handicap accessible restrooms are provided. Both of these have an entrance fee.

Hemlock Park

Located outside of La Valle on Dutch Hollow Road, this park has a boat landing, playground, picnic area and an accessible fishing pier. It is a great park to take the family for a picnic and a little fishing. Handicap accessible restrooms are provided.

Summer Oaks Boat Landing

This county park is located near Merrimac, off Highway 78, and provides access to Lake Wisconsin. There is ample parking, and an entrance fee is required.

Yellow Thunder Park

It is a small park established to honor Chief Yellow Thunder: a nice wayside on Highway A to stop for a rest on your journey. The park includes picnic tables and Chief Yellow Thunder's burial marker.

Mirror Lake Dam

The Mirror Lake Dam provides a canoe launch, which allows access to Mirror Lake. It is located off South Burritt Ave in Lake Delton.

Sauk County Forest

The County Forest is 663 acres consisting of mostly mixed pines. It is located between Spring Green and Lone Rock on Highway 14. No facilities are provided.
