Looking North in this 1921 photo, the first five buildings from left burned down in 1924. L-R in 1924: Farber Auto Co., Leicher Funeral Home & Post Office, Hasz Implement & Hardware Store, Winecke Meat Market, Luehrsen Wagon Shop, private home, Soltwedel's Bar & Dance Hall and Riggert's General Store. Chauncey Logan founded the village, named after him, in 1853.

Early 1900's. L-R, east side of street: Through the years the first building was a barber shop, doctor's office, photo studio and variety store. The second building housed a hardware store, grocery store, meat market, ice cream parlor. Third building was, and still is, a tavern. Across the street was also a tavern, next to that was a blacksmith shop, and finally, the harness shop which also housed the post office.
