The Highway 12 Local Planning Assistance Advisory Committee, comprised of Sauk County, local governments along Highway 12 and the Ho-Chunk Nation, has begun a groundbreaking planning process to help decide future growth and preservation issues along the Highway 12 corridor between the Sauk City Bridge and Interstate 90/94. There are several components to this process including public input via surveys, visioning sessions and focus groups, Open Houses and monthly meetings of the Advisory Committee. It is scheduled to finish in the Spring of 2003 with a set of recommendations in a document called the Highway 12 Corridor Growth Management Plan. The Growth Management Plan will focus on issues such as complimentary land use, preservation, access, economic development, and community image issues that arise as a result of the future Highway expansion. The Growth Management Plan will include an overall vision and detailed recommendations for the entire 24-mile Highway 12 corridor in Sauk County.
