I've always enjoyed photography from early days. With digital photography, I have been able to indulge this interest to the maximum. The Pewit's Nest 2004 picture was such a great panorama that I found artist printing service that could make a print of 10 x 20 inches without having to cut and paste paper sections together. I was excited by the prints and entered it in the Wisconsin Regional Artists Program exhibit in Prairie du Sac. It went on to win an award, the James Schwalbach award, at the State Exhibit. When the company I worked for was bought out and re-organized, I started to try and make photography into my living. I exhibit in two galleries currently and have also started to do photography for portraits, senior high school pictures, etc. I have my own large format printer and also make prints for other artists and small businesses.

I’ve always liked panoramic photographs and landscapes, however I find that the subject and the setting often do not fit into standard 4x6 // 8x10 formats. For years, this meant taping photos together - which generally ended up on the refrigerator. In 2001, I decided to try digital photography and was excited about the ability of software to join frames into panoramas. The problem remained that if they were printed on my computer, they either ended up 2 inches tall or I was back to cutting and taping prints together. When I did the Pewit's Nest Summer 2004 panorama, I was excited enough to find a Giclee printing service that could print the picture at l0 x 20 inches. I was stunned by the results, and entered the print in the Sauk Prairie WRAP show. The print was awarded a State Exhibit award, and later the James Schwalbach Award for creativity. I've provided prints for The Prairie Enthusiasts traveling photography show in 2006, and fundraisers for the Ferry Bluff Eagle Council, the Sauk Prairie River PAL, the Festival Choir of Madison and the recent United Cerebral Palsy fundraiser in Madison. My photographs have been used in the River Alliance's calendar, the Wisconsin People and Ideas magazine from the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters as well as newspapers and local non-profit newsletters.

Some people spend money on a gym – I’ve decided to spend money on a good camera and use it to explore some of the hidden areas in Sauk County. I’m currently “re-careering” around my interests in photography. I have prints for sale in the Iron Horse Gallery in Mazomanie and the Blue Sky Gallery in Baraboo. I have my own large format printer and make my own prints – including canvas prints – for my gallery displays. I also do printing for other artists and inexpensive signs for small businesses and non-profit organizations. For more information, please contact me.

I have works for sale at the Blue Sky Gallery in Baraboo, and the Iron Horse Gallery in Mazomanie. I also do business out of my home as Kurt Eakle Digital Photography Services. The services include doing photography, making art prints using archival inks and papers as well as printing photography on canvas. I've recently started offering services as a photography tour guide in the Baraboo hills.
